Feng Shui Master Singapore – Buying Tips for Residential 

Finding a good residential home feng shui starts even before the onsite visit.

Find a residential property that suits me?

The most common pre-purchase enquiry i get. “find a house that suits me? Is it possible for a residence to suit an average Singapore Family Nucleus of 3 to 4 members? If you are staying alone, that is possible.

First of all. You do not want a home that makes you travel 1 hour to and fro for a tiny island Singapore. The richest man in the world sleep in his office or factory to save time. Therefore find a residence that is near to your workplace.

External Environment & Layout 形家长眼法 内外格局

External Landforms

Study the external landforms i.e. External physical Environment leading to your block before arranging onsite viewing. Used Google Maps or Street directory to help.

• Is the property near the expressway. Consider the noise level
• Any construction or earmark for construction. For how long?
• Are the surrounding buildings close?
• Is it near to temple, police station, hospitals, rubbish chute or any structure of the building that annoys you. Peace of mind is also one of the consideration.
• West sun? For some there is no problem
• the path leading to the house i.e. the lift, corridor, staircase etc

Surrounding  风水四神相应

This is more of “the cherry on top” for high population density Singapore.

Observe the space surrounding the block. The 4 main “mountain 山势” influence, front 朱雀 Vermilion Bird, back 玄武 Black Tortise, left hand side 左青龙 Green Dragon and the right 右白虎 White Tiger.

Ideally the front e.g. block A is spacious field with lower height buildings trapping the “qi”.  Both left and right buildings of the same height. In case a compromise is necessary the left side (dragon) should be slightly higher.

Study the Singapore Master plan. Check for any development earmarked for new developments such as residential or commercial buildings or roads etc.

Construction in Singapore often poses challenges for feng shui and disrupts neighbourhood energy, potentially impacting health and prosperity particularly when the economy is sluggish. In fact facing a construction site is feng shui worst nightmare. Not even feng shui can resolve entirely. Looking at it from a practical perspective, on-going construction causes pollution, noise, dust and daily inconvenience detours and road diversions.

Internal Layout 

• Is the toilet located at the center of the house
• Is the kitchen in the West sector (location not direction)
• Does the Main Entrance in direct opposite to the Kitchen or Toilet entrance
• Is the layout regular in shape?
• Where are the missing and/or protruded area/s on the floor plan

Shape of the house. Is it rectangle, square or out-of-shape?

Where is the main door located? how about  stove and bedrooms? Locations are more important than directions in fengshui.

Are there any significant missing sectors constituting 25% or more of the total floor area? Avoid selecting properties with irregular shapes or those where the length-to-breadth ratio exceeds 1:3. If the absent sectors correspond to positive aspects such as wealth, health, or career, valuable opportunities may be lost. As illustrated in the image above, the North and South sectors are comparatively smaller.

Feng Shui Energy Management – Sitting & Orientation 

This is to calculate the Destiny Energy Map of your dream home.

There are a number of formulas I used to calculate the Natal Energy Chart of the House. Personally i used 2 Main Calculation models: 三元玄空挨星 popular known as flying stars and 八宅明镜 8 Mansions Feng shui for pre purchase or rental feng shui. Sometimes Qi Men is used for a specific client’s request.

This  is to ensure that the Internal Energy matches the Internal Layout and the External Physical Landforms/Environment (内外环境).

Authentic Classical Feng Shui Trinity 易经 三才之道

When a house’s is align with both landforms it creates a positive environment for the occupants thereby laying the foundation of health, harmony, and wealth. 

What Feng Shui does is providing “a conducive environment” for life opportunities such as wealth, career promotion to  happen. You and your loved ones are required to stay positive, work hard, optimise your talents to make it happen!

In feng shui it is coined as 地 environment  天 God 人  Human 合 一 trilogy working in sync. Anything short it will not have the 100% outcome that we hope. A simple analogy is finding the best study sector will only have excellent grades provided your kid study hard.

TIMING OF EARTH’S ENERGY 三元玄空九星  地运

In San Yuan Chinese metaphysics, timing is the key to good feng shui.

As a general rule of thumb in Period 8 2004 to 04 Feb 2024, overlooking “water” in the SouthWest direction improves wealth. See illustration. The opposite side which faces NE direction water is bad feng shui.

In Period 8 context, NE direction should overlook tall buildings instead of water. Within the house, Northeast sector should not be the toilet or missing.

Broad generalisation, after 04 Feb 2024 in Luck cycle 9 overlooking “North” direction water is good for wealth-opportunities 催财 BUT opposite south-facing water representing wealth loss. SouthEast waters positive for Career & fame 催贵. Northwest waters 照神 supplementary wealth used it under feng shui advisement. 

Point to note is for Period 9 Home Destinies there is NO Positive Health & Wealth. You either have one or the other. 

“山环水抱，气聚有情， 山管人丁， 水管财”

House Destiny Energy Chart 宅命 – A Precise Degree 

Similar to our birth profiles, houses also have their own destiny. “Destiny 宅命” of the house is determine by the orientation i.e. the “degree” of it’s facing.

A precise degree is a must.

NO tilted Main door

Do not buy a house or office with tilted doors. 

More External landforms 

Avoid sighting landforms such as sharp-pointed buildings, barren hills, highly reflective windows, entrance to hospitals, police stations, T-junctions, and expressways. The potential impact is generally assessed based on their proximity to your residence. If this can only be seen with the aid of binoculars, the influence is considered minimal.

Do not buy a house that is build below the street level. It presents significant risks such as 阴气重 structural dampness due to limited sunlight,  risks of flooding and poor air ventilation.

Avoid Cul-de-sac properties.

Breadwinner’s bazi is redundant

Feng Shui originated in a time when most theories favoured the male breadwinner, reflecting feudal values. Today, relying solely on the male’s Bazi or Gua Number to choose a home is unfair. Career woman earning high income are common particularly in Luck cycle 9.

A good residential feng shui shouldn’t be based on bazi or gua number, unless everyone in the family shared the same Bazi Useful Element 八字格局用神, which is rare.

Feng Shui reading “void 空亡” No Orientations  

These are the main door orientations to avoid. Known as 空亡线 meaning “void”. These degrees is in between 8 gua 八卦 therefore No Destinies! Void degrees variance +/- 1.5 degree are  22.5°, 67.5°,112.5°,157.5°,202.5°, 247.5°, 292.5°, 337.5° 大空亡 and 7.5, 37.5 52.5, 82.5, 97.5, 127.5 142.5 172.5 187.5 217.5 232.5 262.5 277.5 307.5 322.5 352.5 小空亡. These you need to engage a feng shui master to check for you. 

Any bad things can happen for such degree such as freak accidents, surgeries, sickness, suicide, lawsuit, disharmony, evil spirits and there is “no permanent feng shui solutions”.
