Analysing an individual bazi Structural & Day Master Useful element/s correctly is easily 100x more difficult than feng shui consultation. Most masters focus on judging whether the Day Master is strong or weak thereby finalising the Useful element/s 八字用神 which is fundamentally incorrect. Then there are those who try to sell you feng shui stuff such as pagoda, brushes or chinese calligraphy.

The chinese term for feng shui study location is call wen chang position 文昌位. Wen Chang is the academic star to accentuate literature dominance, scholarly pursue or intellect or mental agility. It helps concentration and clears the mind.

4 Simple D.I.Y. methods to help your child’s education

Below are 4 simple methods to locate wen chang position in your house. If the space is available you only need to place the study desk and automatically your child’s concentration will improve, no items are necessary. If unfortunately the wen chang sector is missing or in the toilet then one have to improvise using other formulas such as ZiWei DouShu, Qi Men Dun Jia or Xuan Kong Home Destiny feng shui.

Method 1. Eight House and Nine palace 八宅九宫飞泊

Every home has it’s predestined position for learning, in feng shui known as wen chang star location 文昌位. It is based on the sitting position of the house which is also known as House Destiny 宅命.

Sitting position of a house is 180 degree opposite direction to main door facing. Take for example if you main door faces North 10 degree, then your Home Destiny is South 190 degree based on 8 Mansion formula 八宅明镜.

Our Bazi is imperfect

These are common Bazi weaknesses:

a. birth profile that is too hot or cold
b. missing element or elements (wood, fire, earth, metal & water)
c. useful element 八字用神not found in existing birth chart
d. conflict or clashes found without mitigating element in birth structure
e. others

Parents birth profile clashes

There are some Chinese baby naming masters that required parents’ birth profiles for auspicious names for their child. Not sure why but is absolutely unnecessary.

First of all parents would have their own auspicious names that suit themselves. Why the child’s name must “suit” the parents? i suspect the reason is that they are thinking of “conflict” between them.

Over the years i have seen conflict between parents and child due to personality differences not because of bazi itself. Family conflict usually happen when members have different views or beliefs that clash or child’s growing stage of life to become an adult. Peaceful negotiation and respect for the other person’s point of view is the solution not “auspicious chinese name”.

Secondly parents favourable elements may differ from child. So do we cater to the parents or child? Who’s life are we concern about and what is the priority. Obviously is the child.

This nonsense about suitability with parents belong to China 封建时代 feudalism era. Where parents due to large number of children even disown their kids.

No such thing as Zodiac sign compatibility 

A good chinese name for baby is not based on the Zodiac animal sign on the year of birth. It is based on the entire Birth (bazi) chart year, month, day and time of birth. So there is no such thing as certain chinese characters suit certain zodiac animals.

For example one website stated that person born in Year of Ox required grass 草 部首的字 e.g. 艺, 艾, 苗, 華 because cow feed on grass. i am thinking if tiger feed on meat 肉部首 e.g. 肚, 肝, 胎, 胖. As for dragon not sure what is the menu?

Auspicious Chinese Name is to find a bazi solution

A person’s birth profile is broadly classify as “Standard” or “Special”.

Standard bazi classification reduce Day Master’s strength when it is strong and enhance it when weak so as to achieve balance. Special bazi classification is direct opposite to standard correction formula.

Sometimes it is not about evaluating a strong or weak day master but measuring the “temperature” of a person’s by birth month. For instance a Fire day master born in summer (Jun) is too hot and Water born in winter (Dec) is too cold. Imagine a “metal” person born in summer, it melts and freezes in winter. Hence the selection for an auspicious baby name is to mitigate the situation.

Sometimes the character selection for chinese name is to find a “mediator” between 2 conflicting elements. E.g. the clash of Fire and Water needed “wood” to correct the conflict.

Bazi life aspects falling short

In any birth structure all important aspects of life are represented e.g. health, relationship, career, wealth, parents etc. Sometimes a favourable element may fall short or destroyed entirely by another element. An auspicious chinese name fill in the void.

Take for instance below is a strong “water” person and does not possess sufficient wood which are “talents” OR fire represented as “wealth”. This will impede the child’s life when he or she grows up.

A well known chinese saying goes like this, “Instead of giving your child gold, teach him a skill. Instead of teaching him a skill, bestow a good name upon your child.”

There are some express auspicious Chinese Name service where turnaround time is within an hour that is “mass-produce” from computer-generated software. The software is based on a fixed algorithm to match auspicious numerology sequence 三才五格. It provides no help because the program does not analyse your child’s bazi lucky or unlucky elements.

Our strengths and talents are quite easy to understand so i will not explain. Attitude is apportion in luck section because positive mental attitude such as abundance thinking can be trained with discipline & effort.

don’t make bazi profiling the fall guy for all bad happenings

Let’s take an example that lots of female clients love to ask, how to save a broken marriage. i am sure you aware that divorce rates are on the rise. If you recall during our grandparents era, the word “divorce” does not even exist or heard off. Those days marriage partners did not even see each other before marriage! Then why so little divorce what change? personality? societal values? environment? i believe you are able to arrive to the conclusion yourself.

Our society has become less forgiving, less empathy and less tolerant. You may wonder how all these are related to feng shui, bazi, auspicious name, C-birth etc. It does relate. Let me share the same example on marriage. Checking bazi traits for both partners will reveal compatibility issues. How we sustain our marriage is through allegiance, tolerance, responsibilites and devotion… to make it happen. i can identify bazi flaws but you must prepare to change. i can also do feng shui remedies to improve harmony but you must make an effort to see it through. In other words not every single, little trivial happenings is bad feng shui or bad birth profile.

Bazi and Feng Shui always the patsy

if our business does not perform most would take the easy way out to blame feng shui? Have we look inwards into our personnel or business strategies or marketing aspects? Sometimes it can be as simple as the products or services offering are redundant e.g. video -rental, books

Please allow me to share with you one enterprising client of mine who started her own business but failing. After helping her to improve her business through feng shui, i candidly told her that she is not suited to do her own business and to my surprise she admitted that she think so too. I checked her bazi configuration, she is better off as a working professional in a big corporation.. Again her replied was she did well in a Bank and enjoys good promotions over the years.

She did her own business because of her 10-years luck pillar. It influences her to make this bad decision. Granted that she is highly qualified to do her own but she does not have the risk-taking nature nor competitiveness of an entrepreneur.

Just another thought, if one who take pride and holds a high self-esteem of their work should not consider working on their own too. Here i refer to services such as design consultant. Here some handy home feng shui health tips to improve your family fitness. One of my key principle & objective of home feng shui consultation is No Health = No Wealth. Without health one can’t even work to earn money not forgetting healthcare in Singapore is not cheap. To stress on the importance of having a vibrant health is an understatement. 

A sad feng shui case – Bad Forms 形法

I was invited to consult a house feng shui many months ago. As usual before the appointment, i did a calculation on family members birth profile (bazi reading) and study the floorplan before on-site visit.

During the inspection, i was shocked to see how bad this bed was positioned. 

a. Bed (yin 阴 energy) placed beside bedroom door – yang 阳 energy (active). Imbalance of Yin and Yang energy.

b. It was placed under a low concrete beam shaded in yellow.

c. Headboard agains the wall where the stove is. Stove in feng shui is fire element. In other words, his head is oriented towards the stove for 6 to 7 hours of sleep every night.

d. Head was in direct conflict with the toilet door which is water element.

Structurally the bed is at the junction of water and fire conflict.  Actually there are more. But not going into “energy management 理气” the bed position already violated so many “形法 form rules”. Realising the urgency, i recommended my client to shift away the bed immediately not even considering an auspicious date to do so 安床 .

He told me that his brother slept over there for the last 3 years and recently passed away because of brain tumour. Oh i am too late. He added this was the reason he consulted me. And mentioned his family health was deteriorating after shifted into this house. I felt sorry for him and did the fengshui cures. After about one month my client shared with me that their family health have improved.

Bad forms in feng shui can be so deadly. Interestingly a lot of feng shui masters got carried away with energy management and forgot that form is equally important if not more important. I have seen one master who tilted the bed and placed right in the middle of a room omg.

Importance of active areas affecting health feng shui

Over the last 20 years or more, most homes done by previous feng shui masters did not entirely neutralise negative energy in the house. Negative energy is either Structural physical forms 形法 or Unseen energy call 理气 qi. 

Active areas are causes for concern in home feng shui. Things like the position of air-condition, clock, doors, water feature, window, stove. i have seen houses where the owners enclosed their house with heavy curtains without allowing air and sunlight into home. This is bad. A good feng shui home needs to enjoy high oxygen levels, the right amount of sunlight, avoiding areas with high EMF radiation and geopathic stress.

Holistic approach to health feng shui 

A holistic home health feng shui should include calculation of home destiny, balance of five elements, management of unseen qi 气 / vibes, birth profiles integration, yin-yang harmony, determine the lucky energy path and checking for bad forms. Feng shui not only affect us but our loved ones too. So do take care of yourself and your family members.

General health tips based on feng shui principles

Here are some general tips to ensure good health based on fengshui principles for the interior of your home adding to the 3 pointers written:

1) Ensure that your home is clean. A house full of clutter is bad hygiene.

2) Ensure that the walkway flows freely and unobstructed.

3) Do not place mirrors in front of your bed, you will have nightmare and interrupted sleep.

4) Do not place your stove opposite the toilet door.

5) Do not buy a home that the toilet is right smack in the centre of your floor plan.

6) Do not place the bed beside the door, any door. 

7) Headboard of your bed should not be towards the stove or toilet.

8) Avoid tech gadgets like laptop, mobile, charger beside your head portion of your bed.

9) Kitchen entrance should not be at the reverse end of main or room doors or toilet door.

10) Sharp objects likes axe and sword not to place beside any doors. This will result in accidents and surgery.

11) Stove should not be within energy combo of 2,5, 5,2, 5,9 9,5 and 5 Devil.

12) Do not carry out renovation without the calculation of auspicious dates.

13) Do not place family photos in the 5 devil sector.

14) Mirrors and clocks should be opposite to doors or windows.

15) Avoid homes that have very severe missing sectors or rectangular layout where the length is 3x longer than breadth. A square house is always a good choice.
